The Championship season is underway for the Explorers Swimming and Diving program. Saturday was the annual JV Championships held at CT Branin Natatorium and the 16 Hudson swimmers that attended all had seasonal best times and nearly 100% lifetime best times as well. Hudson had a few event Champions in Abby Silcox in the 200 Free, Emma Fisher in the 200 IM, and Andrew Constable in the 100 Breast.
“This is a great end of the season meet for some of our swimmers that dont have the opportunity to compete at the Sectional meet,” says coach Davis. “They run a great meet for the kids at the state meet pool. They also get the kids who finish top 8 on the podium, so it is great to see their hard work pay off in a great environment. Our team had tremendous depth and we really showed that today by placing so many swimmers on the podium. I was very pleased with Jr Emma Fisher who won the 200 IM and set personal best times in the IM and 100 Fly,” says coach Davis. Jr Meredith Kozar was runner up in the 200 IM to and 100 Back and turned in personal best times as well. Jr Erin Morgan also had a great day for the Boats turning in personal best times in the 200 IM and 100 Fly. Kelly Ross the lone Sr at the meet for Hudson set personal best in both the 200 and 100 Free and she finished 2nd overall in the 200 Free to Silcox.
For the boys Fr Andrew Constable earned his varsity letter in the 100 Free with a time of 52.2 but also won the 100 Breast. Fr Sean McMullin was runner up in the 500 Free with a time of 5:18 and earned his Varsity letter as well. “I was really pleased with all of our boys, but the 3 Freshman Sean, Andrew, and Ethan Clemens really improved a ton throughout the season. Their improvement is really going to help the boys team continue to get better for years to come. Ethan had a huge drop in the 200 IM and went 1:02 in the 100 Backstroke which is a really great swim for a Fr, “says Davis.
Hudson kicks off the OHSAA tournament this week with the Sectional meet at the University of Akron.
