The girls swim and dive team had an incredible weekend at SPIRE, as they were crowned District Champions! The girls took home four individual District Titles and 2 Relay Titles! In a truly amazing performance, the girls had 31 individual swims that resulted in 21 podium finishes! The District Title is the eighth in the last eleven seasons for the girls. As a result, 8 swimmers will represent the girls team in Canton this weekend, at the State Meet, including; Peyton Binns, Carrie Caniglia, Mackenzie DeWitt, Taylor Kochanowksi, Olivia Pisano, Lucy Reber, Marisa Schenkenberger, and Eliana Szabo.
All of the Explorers turned in great swims on the day! Check out the info below for those earning a top 5 finish in their finals.
Szabo and Pisano finished 3rd and 5th, respectively, in the 200 Free. Reber was earned a District Championship in the 200 IM, while teammate Schenkenberger, finished runner-up. Caniglia finished in 4th place in the 50 Free and 5th place in the 100 Free. Szabo took home 4th place in the 100 Free. Pisano earned a District Title in the 500 Free with a time of 5:05.99. Mackenzie DeWitt set a District Meet record in the 100 Fly with a time of 54.18 to earn the title, while again flexing her muscles in the 100 Back with a time of 55.52 and another first place finish! Schenkenberger took home 5th place in the 100 Breast. The 200 Free Relay team of DeWitt, Szabo, Caniglia, and Binns took home a title with a time of 1:35.47, while Reber, Szabo, Caniglia, and DeWitt earned the District Title in the 400 Free!
